RMI's US Team

Picture
Dan Shoemaker, President
Having grown up in Haiti as a missionary kid and then spending 25 years living in Haiti, Dan has a unique understanding of the needs of the Haitian churches, communities, and schools.  As a co-founder of RMI in 1988 and VP/Field Leader of RMI for 17 years, Dan has been able to bring vision and leadership to RMI as it grew. Since becoming President in 2006, he has had the opportunity to continue this vision by seeing new programs and innovation have great impact through RMI.  RMI’s tagline of seeing lives (both US and Haitian) transformed in Christ and providing hope for their future has been a driving force for him and his team.  He and his wife, Debbie, have two adult children and two grandchildren.  Although Dan grew up riding enduro motorcycles in Haiti and used that mode of transportation all during his service in Haiti, he has fulfilled his dream of getting his US motorcycle license and enjoys riding his 2005 Kawasaki 1600 Vulcan Nomad with the motorcycle club from his church.  He also enjoys reading and cooking.  He recently took up kayaking and enjoys paddling around the backwaters of Southwest Florida.

Kim Rose, Vice President
Kim works as Vice President and has a strong background in operational financials, production management and human resources gleaned from his experience as business owner, divisional production manager and director of HR.  He has served in church as a deacon, adult Sunday School teacher, and on many committees.  He joined RMI in November of 2009 and feels blessed and privileged to have a "front row seat" to God's work in Haiti.  He's traveled to Haiti numerous times with vision teams, building homes and providing training to Haitian staff. Kim is married to Barbara, who is the director of RMI's Hope for Kidz program, and together they have two married sons and five wonderful grandchildren.  His hobbies include motorcycling, reading and home remodeling.

Barbara Rose, Director of Hope for Kidz

Barbara joined the RMI ministry in June, 2012 after a career in medical business administration.  As a director and consultant for ambulatory surgery centers, her responsibilities included multi-department management, budgets, and financial reporting.  She has served on several churches' finance committees and enjoyed working in many areas of the church.  Barbara's love for ministry, specifically a ministry for children is what she's most passionate about.  She feels extremely blessed to serve with our Haitian staff and those representing Hope for Kidz in the US churches in this amazing ministry where children receive a Christ-centered education and are being fed.  Barbara is married to Kim, RMI's Vice President of Operations and has two married sons, much-loved daughters-in-law and five precious grandchildren.  She loves boating and all family activities.

Debbie Shoemaker, Director of Communications
As Director of Communications, Debbie is responsible for all of RMI's publications, brochures, displays and branding.  She also supervises RMI social media activities.  She writes, edits and designs RMI's products, including editing the missionaries' newsletters.  Being a TCK (Third Culture Kid - her parents were missionaries with Child Evangelism Fellowship, pioneering CEF's ministry on US military bases in Germany) helped her transition into being a missionary wife to Dan in Haiti.  During their 25 years in Haiti they raised 2 TCKs of their own.  Their son is married and has 2 children.  Their daughter is an RMI missionary serving in Haiti.  She enjoys jewelry making, crafting, gardening and time with family.  One of her most favorite things about living in the US (after 25 years in the tropics) is the fact that the entire house has air conditioning, making living life at home so much more enjoyable.

Jeff and Christina Speel, Partnership Development Coordinator
Jeff and Christina joined the RMI staff in January 2019.  They have been raising their support to go to Haiti, but due to health issues they have to take some time to heal before they receive the doctor's clearance to leave for Haiti.  As Partnership Development Coordinator, Jeff will be working to recruit new C3 partner churches in the US and strengthening the existing C3 partners.  Christina will be doing some grant writing and working with Hope for Kidz.  Jeff loves backpacking, camping, mountain biking, sports, reading, and playing guitar. Christina enjoys scrapbooking, jigsaw puzzles, reading, and having coffee with friends. She once created an origami piece that was in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  They both love family time with their two children, Elle, 6, and Hutz, 2.

John and Joanne Miner, Support Staff
John is a third generation elevator man with almost forty years in the business (installation, repairs, inspecting) but that never prepared him for his first C3 trip to Haiti.  His priorities changed after visiting Haiti and he is grateful for the life altering experience.  John provides maintenance and office support for the US office.  He enjoys motorcycle riding, watching college basketball, snow skiing, cooking, and working with his hands.  Joanne fell in love with Haiti during her first mission trip in 2008. Since then she and husband John have visited their sister church in Maniche, Haiti five times, leading their church team for the past three trips.  Before moving to Lehigh Acres to join RMI, Joanne had three careers: retail management, business owner and church business manager. She grew up in Miami and attended Florida International University and the University of Miami. Joanne's leisure time is spent traveling with John, taking photographs, and working on craft projects.  She helps with special projects in the area of advertising and graphic design.
