Answers to Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat is hope for kidz?
Hope for Kidz is a child sponsorship program that Reciprocal Ministries International (RMI) founded in 1999 to meet the educational and physical needs for Haitian children who are unable to attend school due to severe poverty.
Why is Hope for Kidz needed?
Although Haitians place a strong value on education, the cost of tuition for both public and private schools is so high that few can afford to send their children to school.
What does hope for kidz provide?
Your sponsorship provides a needy child with the opportunity to hear about Jesus, receive a solid Christian education, their school entrance fee, school tuition and books for the year, school supplies, and a daily hot lunch (in some areas). Hope for Kidz is also conducts Community Health Training Initiatives in our HFKz schools including an annual de-worming and prevention education program. HFKz has instituted an Emergency Major Medical Needs Fund for sponsored children. For sponsors, HFKz provides financial and educational accountability, fund distribution, a picture and profile of each child, and the opportunity to periodically communicate with your child through letter writing. Additionally, HFKz staff make frequent visits to HFKz schools to check on facilities and curriculum, check on academic performance, get updated pictures, confirm your child’s school attendance, and confirm appropriate fund disbursement.
How does the hope for kidz program work?
A picture and profile of each student is obtained by the HFKz Staff in Haiti and sent to the child’s prospective sponsor. Sponsorship funds are processed by the RMI office in Lehigh Acres, FL and then are transferred to the RMI office in Haiti. Once funds have been received in Haiti, they are distributed to the appropriate pastor of the school’s parent church and the school administrator for the children in that school. The pastor and administrator are then responsible to distribute the monies as designated. They are required to give an accounting to the RMI HFKz staff.
When is the haitian school year?
September thru June.
how much does it cost to sponsor a child?
Sponsoring a child is an annual cost of $480, or a monthly option of $40.
when do i start paying for my child?
In order for the start-up costs to be covered by the beginning of school, the first monthly payment of $40 should be made by April. Annual payments of $480 should be made by July 31st.
HOW WILL MY CHILD’S NEW PROFILE ARRIVE?
New profiles will be distributed through your Church's Hope for Kidz coordinator.
WILL I CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME CHILD NEXT YEAR?
Unless your child graduates or leaves the program, you can be assured that you will be continuing on with the same child. In the unlikely case that your child has graduated or left the program, your church’s HFKz Coordinator or RMI will work with you to provide you with a new child. Should your child not continue in the program and you do not choose to take on a new child, any funds received up until that point will be applied to the Hope for Kidz Program.
WHAT IF MY FINANCIAL SITUATION CHANGES?
RMI will assume that you will be continuing your sponsorship of your child for as long as the child is available for sponsorship unless you indicate otherwise (a minimum of 12 months commitment). If your financial situation changes, please contact RMI as soon as possible. We would ask that you give us three months lead time before cancelling payment. This will enable us to find another sponsor for your child if at all possible.
