The Ezra Institute: Transformative Adult EducationSeeking to train the next generation of leaders, RMI has started the Ezra Institute School of Leadership.
The Ezra Institute strives to equip and empower students to lead in their church, workplace, and community through a Biblical world-view. The Ezra Institute desires for students to Learn it, Live it, and Lead it (Ezra 7:10). How do we help students LEARN IT? By bringing in gifted and passionate instructors from all over the world, students can get a relevant and quality education that elevates their walk with Christ, leadership skills, and vocational skills. How do we help students LIVE IT? Students will be mentored by mature local leaders. This will provide the opportunity to practice what they are learning as they engage with their local communities. How do we help students LEAD IT? After completing the program, students will be equipped to be godly disciple-makers, trained leaders, and skilled employees. The Ezra Institute’s foundational curriculum emphasizes multiplying and empowering others through Christ to bring transformative change. What kind of student are we looking for? The focus will be high school graduates, both men and women, aged 18 - 25, recommended by their church leaders as future leaders. Current leaders who want to further their leadership capacity will be able to be involved as space permits. How long is the program? The Ezra Institute’s School of Leadership is a 2-year program that helps students develop skills. In year one, students will primarily be in the classroom learning their skills. In year two, students will be engaging in hands-on implementation of the skills they are learning. What will the core curriculum be like? Students will participate in courses such as the person of Christ, early church history, New Testament survey, and Old Testament survey to help them develop Biblical Christ-centered living. Students will also participate in courses such as Biblical Leadership, Leading like Christ, Biblical Ethics, and Modern Leadership from a Christian World-view to help students become impactful leaders of integrity. Lastly, students will learn vocational skills from courses such as Administration, Management, Business, Ethics, English, Computing, and many others. Where is it located? The Ezra Institute operates in Haiti near the southern city of Les Cayes. Who is it affiliated with? The Ezra Institute is a ministry of RMI. The students will be chosen from their 30+ Sister Churches. RMI partners with Mission Evangélique Baptiste du Sud d’Haïti (MEBSH), one of Haiti’s largest church association. RMI has been ministering in Haiti for over 35 years through cross-cultural partnerships and ministry, evangelism, student sponsorship, feeding programs, and humanitarian projects, all for the glory of God. How is it funded? The Ezra Institute is funded by generous donations by individuals and churches alike! If you would like to be a part of this incredible opportunity to develop Biblical leaders that will impact Haitian society, please join us in this endeavor. There are several ways to do so through:

Inspiring, Authentic and Transformative Education with a Biblical World-view.
David Chery, a partnership facilitator with RMI in Haiti, valued getting further education. He studied agronomy and English to grow and sell plants, creating more opportunities for himself. Proficiency in English led to teaching and partnership work for RMI.
After discovering the Ezra Institute and its focus, David felt hopeful, knowing that students would receive education in Christ-centeredness and leadership in addition to their vocational training. When interviewed, he emphasized the scarcity of leaders in Haiti, let alone godly leaders. Raising young, empowered, and godly leaders will enable them to impact Haiti’s youth and positively change society, churches, and workplaces. Edy Milce, a seasoned partnership facilitator at RMI, attributes his global perspective and business proficiency to mastering English next to his economic science degree. This fluency in English expanded his interactions with English speakers in Haiti, enabled reading English-only books, and elevated his economic science expertise.
When asked about the value of the Ezra Institute to its students, Edy shared that students learning English will be a major asset in securing a job. Many organizations require Creole-to-English translators and individuals capable of conversing and writing in English. Furthermore, he found the Ezra Institute’s curriculum and model to be forward-thinking. Unlike many vocational schools that primarily focus on specific skills for job placement, the institute prioritizes holistic learning. While other schools aim to equip students with skills for potential jobs, the Ezra Institute emphasizes teaching leadership, the Bible, and relevant skillsets such as administration, management, and business computing. |
